The Schoolbag Foundation is honored to celebrate an extraordinary milestone in our mission: the high school graduation of our second-ever scholarship recipient, Amystacie Zul.
Amystacie recently completed her studies at Belize Adventist High School, marking the end of a determined and inspiring four-year journey. Her path was not easy. She faced long commutes, early mornings, demanding coursework, and moments that tested her perseverance. Living an hour away from campus, she rose before dawn each day to catch the 6:30 a.m. bus — a routine she never once allowed to stand in the way of her education.
Guided by faith, strengthened by discipline, and inspired by her school’s commitment to never surrender her dreams, Amystacie overcame every challenge placed before her. She credits God as her constant source of strength, and her achievements reflect the heart of a young woman who refuses to give up.
Today, Amystacie is stepping confidently into the next chapter of her academic journey at Belize Adventist Junior College, where she will study Business. Her long-term goal is to become a successful banker — a career path fueled not only by ambition, but by her desire to uplift her community and make her family proud.

On May 6, 2024, Hubert Whyte’s life changed forever. Surviving a tragic home invasion in Roaring Creek, Cayo District, that claimed the lives of his mother and stepfather, Hubert was shot and recovering from his injury while also having to deal with an unimaginable burden of grief.
Driven by his late mother’s ultimate dream – to see her son graduate from high school- Hubert refused to surrender his future. While recovering physically, he channeled his grief into determination. He didn’t just stay in school; he finished his Junior year on the Honor Roll.
Recognising his extraordinary fortitude, The Schoolbag Foundation stepped in with a $1,000.00 BZE scholarship, a new laptop and a schoolbag to support his Senior year. Hubert went on to officially graduate high school with honors. We celebrate the result of his unwavering grit and the fulfillment of his mother’s dream. Congratulations Hubert; we are so proud of you.

In 2021, The Schoolbag Foundation was created to ensure that children from underserved families in Orange Walk, Belize have the opportunity to attend high school and continue their education. That year, we met Yarely Chan, a Standard 6 (8th Grade) student from the village of San Juan in the Orange Walk District.
Yarely didn’t just have a dream of becoming a lawyer; she had the heart of a leader. While most students were focused solely on their books, Yarely could often be found at her community center, watering plants and sweeping the grounds – a quiet reflection of the civic pride she carries for her home.
Despite being accepted into multiple high schools, Yarely’s future hung in the balance. As a student from a single-parent household, the financial barrier was nearly insurmountable. Her mother faced the heartbreaking reality of having to withdraw her from school before it truly began. Just in time, she applied and was awarded the Netty Johnson Memorial Scholarship, making her the first recipient to receive this scholarship.
Over the next four years at Muffles High School, Yarely worked hard and excelled. When subjects got tough, she sought out tutoring. In her free time, she continued to volunteer at her local community center.
We are honored to celebrate this meaningful milestone for Yarely Chan, for graduating from high school and now thriving at the Junior College. Her achievements reflect the power of perseverance, support, and opportunity working together. We are incredibly proud of you, Yarely.
